The New York Giants will be taking on the San Francisco 49ers this coming Sunday as Big Blue hopes to stop the bleeding after falling to 0-2 for the seventh time in eight years.
The 49ers, meanwhile, are coming off a blowout win against the Jets at MetLife Stadium. However, that victory did come at a cost for San Francisco, who suffered several injuries to key players.
San Francisco had Jimmy Garoppolo, Nick Bosa, Solomon Thomas and Raheem Mostert all all go down with injuries against the Jets. And Bosa, who is arguably the team’s best player, may be out for a while.
Needless to say, the 49ers were not happy with the turf at Metlife stadium.
@nfl fix this trash met life turf . 2020 is so wack

#49ers coach Kyle Shanahan said players were discussing how “sticky” the artificial surface was at MetLife Stadium today. Said it was something they discussed throughout the game. Shanahan said “unfortunately” Niners have to play there again next week.

This is not the first time the turf at Metlife stadium was questioned, but it certainly is the loudest.
Still, not everyone on the 49ers was in agreement. Tight end Jordan Reed told Pro Football Talk he didn’t notice anything wrong with the turf, while neither the Giants nor Jets have mentioned it.
However, PFT reports that NFL field operations will take a look at the condition of the fieldturf at MetLife Stadium, which was installed this offseason alongside new endzone for both the Jets and Giants, and determine what, if anything, needs to be done.
